When I started this assignment, my resume was pretty general, so I used AI to help me rewrite it for two totally different career paths. First, I gave ChatGPT the prompt: “Rewrite my resume to target an entry level marketing position, focusing on leadership, communication, and social media skills.” This made the resume sound way more creative and people-focused, which fits marketing a lot better.
Then I used: “Rewrite this resume to target an entry-level finance/business role, highlighting numbers, data, and analysis skills.” That version came out more detail oriented and professional, focusing on accuracy, problem-solving, and business tasks. It was interesting to see how the exact same jobs could be written in different ways just by changing the focus.
Overall, I learned that the more specific and clear you are with your prompts, the better the results. It also showed me how important it is to tailor your resume depending on the job you want. AI made it easier to see which strengths fit which industry, and it helped me understand how to present myself differently depending on the audience.
